Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, season ribs with salt, pepper and a sprinkling of ground sage.

Brown short ribs on all sides.

You dont have to cook them all the way through since theyll be cooking in the oven.

Place ribs in a roasting pan with the peeled onion.

Leave onion whole.

In a medium-sized bowl whisk together all ingredients for the sauce until combined.

Pour over ribs and stir a bit to make sure theyre coated.

Cover pan with foil.

Put roasting pan in oven and cook for 2 hours.

Check on ribs a couple times during cooking and stir to make sure sauce is evenly coating everything.

When 2 hours are done, check to make sure sauce is thick enough to your liking.

If you want the sauce thicker, you can remove the ribs to a plate and put pan back in the oven for 15 minutes more.

Serve with white rice or mashed potatoes.
