Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

Cook onions until soft and transfer to a large bowl.

Add bread, 1/4 cup broth, 1/4 cup sour cream, egg yolks, and spices.

Bake meatballs on a wire rack set in a baking sheet until done, about 30 to 45 minutes.

Melt remaining butter in a skillet and whisk in the flour.

Brown this mixture, stirring constantly, about 5 minutes.

Add in the remaining beef broth and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat a bit and simmer about 10 minutes until thickened.

Transfer 1/2 cup of sauce to a small bowl.

Add remaining sour cream and the soy sauce to the small bowl, then stir into the skillet with the sauce.
