Defrost the frozen puff pastry.

Brush water and place 18 pieces of chocolate evenly on each puff pastry.

Preheat the oven for 200C (400F).

Stretch out the puff pastry without chocolate on top.

Make sure the middle part is loose, and press down the edges.

After pressing down on the gaps in between the chocolates by hands, you can do the same with the long cooking chopsticks.

It's ok if the sheets tear slightly.

Brush a beaten egg on top, and sprinkle granulated sugar.

Cut the gaps in between the chocolates with a knife, and bake in the oven for 15 minutes at 200C (400F) until nicely browned.

I used a chocolate bar in the picture on the right and made 12 pieces of pie bites.

Squares from a chocolate bar make them look nicer, but bite-sized chocolates make them look puffier.
