Sponge Cake

   Preheat oven to 325u00b0.

   Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon colored.

   Add water; continue beating until very thick.

   Gradually beat in sugar, then vanilla.

   Sift flour 3 times; fold in egg mixture, a little at a time.

   In another bowl, beat egg whites until foamy.

   Add cream of tartar; beat until they form moist, glossy peaks.

   Fold into first mixture, turning bowl gradually. Bake in ungreased tube pan at 325u00b0 for about 1 hour.
