Spanish Ham Sandwich With Caramelized Onions And Parmesan Cheese

   Add the butter to a skillet on medium-low heat. Add the onions and season with salt. Saute for 5 minutes.

   Add the sugar and lower the heat to low. Cook without stirring for 15 minutes. Remove and set aside.

   Sear the ham in the skillet for 2 minutes on each side.

   Toast thinly sliced bread, add the ham, onions, tomatoes, escarole, and a couple of slices of cheese.
