In a 4-5 quart pot, drizzle a little olive oil on the bottom and heat to medium heat.

Add the lean ground beef to the pan and brown.

Add in the chopped onions and cook until tender, adding in the garlic for the last 1-2 minutes.

When the beef is cooked, add in the canned tomatoes (with all of their juices), the tomato paste, the tomato sauce and the water.

I just fill the can of tomato sauce halfway to measure the water, it does not have to be exact.

Stir to incorporate.

Using your spoon, break up the tomatoes.

Taste and add salt and pepper if needed.

Simmer the sauce on low-medium heat while you prepare the pasta according to the package directions.

You can let the sauce simmer longer if you are not in a hurry.
