Sourdough Onion Rings

   Cut the onions into thin slices, approximately 2 to 3 millimeters wide. Separate the slices into rings, discarding the small ones in the center.

   Heat the oil to 185 degrees Celsius.

   Combine the sourdough starter with the water and salt in a large bowl. Mix together with a fork.

   Dip the onion rings into the batter and fry in small batches. Fry for approximately 1 minute on each side, until golden.

   Remove from oil and place onto a paper towel to remove any excess oil.
