In a 5 qt pressure cooker put the hamhoocks or a pieces of soup bone.. add celery, onion, garlic .... salt and pepper .... let cook for 50-55 minutes on Med pressure.

Pressure cookers are different but mine tells me how much liquid I have.... so I remove my meat and make sure I have 5-6 cups of broth... if not u can add water.... 1 1/2 cup broth = 1 cup peas...

I add additional liquid because I want soup....

I add oil here (though I prefer Bacon drippings)....

Put all other ingredients into pressure cooker and return hamhocks....close cooker and reset for 25 more minutes..

Once its done allow to cool off normally... when pressure is released remove hamhocks and they should fork tender... allow them to cool and remove bone and cut up in chunks an add back to split peas....

***CAN USE A HAM STEAK OR LEFT OVER HAM FROM THE HOLIDAY.. CAN USE BONE.... IVE HAD THE BUTCHER CUT UP AN OLD FASHIONED BONE IN HAM...
