Rolls – a delicious recipe with yeast, milk, salt, flour, butter, very warm water. Easy to follow and perfect for any occasion.

Soften yeast in water.

Scald milk.

Add sugar, salt and shortening.

Cool to lukewarm.

Add flour to make a thick batter. Mix well.

Add softened yeast and eggs.

Beat well.

Add enough more flour to make a soft dough.

Turn out on a lightly floured board or pastry cloth and knead until smooth and satiny.

Place in greased bowl; cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled (about 1 1/2 hours).

When light, punch down.

Cover and let rise 10 minutes.

Roll dough out on board and cut with round cutters. Place each roll in buttered pan, just barely touching each other. Brush with butter.

Let rise until doubled (45 minutes).

Bake at 350u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
