Cream together thoroughly the butter and sugar.

Roll in chopped nuts (pecans or peanuts) and place 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheet. Do not flatten balls.

After baking 10 minutes, remove pan from oven and with a thimble, make a dent into each cookie.

Return pan to oven.

Work as quickly as possible and if the thimble sticks, dip into cold water.

When cookies are done, remove to cooling rack and fill each dent, while warm, with jam or marmalade.
