Puddings(Using Basic Pudding Mix)

   In top part of double boiler, combine mix and 2 1/2 cups warm water.

   Put over boiling water and cook, stirring once or twice, for 10 minutes.

   Add butter and remove from heat.

   With spoon, beat half the mixture into egg, then stir into mixture in double boiler.

   Cook, stirring, over hot (not boiling) water for 1 minute.

   Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

   Cool, stirring once or twice, then chill.
