½ cup shortening
2 tablespoons milk
¾ cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
⅓ cup sugar
1 ½ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
⅓ cup brown sugar, packed
½ teaspoon salt

Beat shortening and peanut butter till well blended.

Add *1/2* of the sugar and all of the brown sugar.

In a separate bowl, stir together flour, baking soda and salt.

Shape the dough into one inch balls and roll each one in the last third of sugar.

Place on ungreased cookie sheet 2 inches apart.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes, IMMEDIATELY pressing a kiss into each center as soon as the cookies are finished in the oven.
