Orange Slice Cake

   Cream butter and sugar until smooth.

   Add eggs, one at a time. Add soda to buttermilk; add to mixture.

   Place flour in a large bowl.

   Add dates, orange slices and nuts; stir to coat fruit and candy.

   Add flour mixture and coconut to creamed mixture.

   This makes a very stiff mixture that should be mixed by hands.

   Put in a greased 13 x 9 x 3-inch pan; bake at 250u00b0 for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
