Old-Fashioned Molasses Cookies

   Sift flour and measure with salt.

   Cut in margarine as for pastry.

   In another bowl, combine molasses and sugar.

   Add egg and beat well.

   Dissolve soda in hot water and add.

   Combine flour and molasses and beat until well blended.

   Chill.

   Turn out on lightly floured board and roll out 1/4-inch thick.

   Cut in circles and place on greased baking sheet, 1-inch apart.

    Bake at 375u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes or until a deep rich brown.
