Okra Shrimp Gumbo

   1.) Put oil in a large aluminum pot, and fry sliced onion until brown around the edges.

   2.) Add peeled shrimp and okra, sliced in rings 1/8th inch thick. Cook on low flame, stirring every few minutes, for 1 hour.

   3.) When okra is not sticking to pot or spoon(the 1 hour should have done it), begin to slowly add one cup of water every few minutes until you have added 12 cups of water.

   4.) Cover and cook slowly for another hour. Taste to see if it is salty enough, then serve. Tastes nice when served with a heaping spoonful of rice.
