Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Beat shortening, brown sugar and granulated sugar in large bowl until fluffy.

Beat in eggs and vanilla.

In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.

Add dry ingredients alternately with milk to creamed mixture, stirring after each addition.

I stirred by hand.

Stir in oats and candy pieces.

Drop by tablespoons (I used tablespoon measuring spoon) onto cookie sheet.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.

Mine baked in 9 1/2 minutes.

We like a chewy cookie so I take mine out just when the edges are browned.

Leave on cookie sheet 2 minutes.

Remove to wire rack.
