Cream together the butter, shortening, sugar and brown sugar. Add the eggs and blend.

In a SEPARATE bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Mix well.

Beat the dry mixture into the butter mixture.

Add the vanilla and blend.

Stir in the oats and butterscotch chips. (You can also use peanut butter or chocolate chips or a combination!)

NOTE: Depending on how much time I have, I like to chill the dough for 30 minutes to an hour, but it's not a must.

Spoon the dough onto a baking sheet. (I make them about the size of a ping-pong ball.)

Bake at 375 degrees for 9-10 minutes. Don't let them set completely if you want them chewier.
