Nutty Toffee Apples

   Push the sticks into the apples at the base. Place the sugar and 1/2 cup water in a saucepan and heat gently until the sugar is dissolved. Add the butter and syrup and bring to a boil.

   Continue to boil without stirring until the thermometer reads 340u00b0F. Remove from the heat and stir in the nuts. Carefully dip the apples into the toffee, making sure they are well coated. Set on silicone mat or parchment to cool and harden.
