1 Tbsp. olive oil
1 medium onion
1 carrot, sliced 1/2 inch thick
2 cloves garlic
3 oz. diced ham
1/2 tsp. basil
1/2 c. canned or fresh tomatoes
3 c. chicken broth
1 c. kidney beans (drained)
salt and pepper, to taste
1/4 c. pasta (elbow or shell)

Saute onion and carrot in olive oil for 5 minutes. Add garlic, ham and basil. Saute 2 more minutes. Add the tomatoes, chicken broth, kidney beans, salt and pepper. Cook 20 minutes. Add the pasta and cook 6 more minutes. Serve with parmesan cheese. Serves 4.
