   Mix first 4 ingredients well.

   Cook until clear.

   Beat egg whites until soft peaks.

   Add cooked mixture and continue beating. Add sugar gradually and beat until stiff peaks.

   Cover pie; seal edges and bake at 325u00b0 until brown.

   I find this makes enough for 6 egg whites.
