Mexican Creole Cake

   Cream together the sugar, vanilla and eggs.

   Sift together the flour, cocoa and salt.

   Add flour mixture to sugar mixture, alternating with buttermilk.

   Mix baking soda with boiling water and add to mixture (makes a very thin batter).

   Bake in a 9 x 13-inch pan for 45 minutes to 1 hour at 350u00b0.
