M&M Cookies

   Cream shortening, add granulated and brown sugars, and cream together until mixture is light and fluffy. Add vanilla, egg and beat again until light and fluffy. Sift flour once; measure, add salt and soda and sift again. Add flour mixture, in two parts, until well mixed into batter. Add M&M candies and nuts. Drop from teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
