Lighthouse Raspberry Cake

   Grease and flour bottom of square pan.

   Beat egg whites until stiff.

   Add 1/4 cup sugar.

   Set aside.

   Cream shortening, salt, vanilla and remaining 3/4 cup sugar and egg yolks.

   Beat until creamy.

   Combine flour and baking powder in separate bowl.

   Add alternately with milk.

   Fold in egg whites.

    Coat raspberries lightly with flour.

    Add berries to dough.

    (Save 1/3 cup of berries to sprinkle on top.)

    Put in pan.

    Sprinkle top with 1/3 cup of raspberries and sprinkle with sugar.

    Bake at 350u00b0 for 50 minutes.

    Do not underbake.
