   Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

   Put the water, sugar, Crisco, cocoa, raisins, cinnamon and cloves in a saucepan and boil for 5 minutes and set aside to cool.

   Butter and flour cake panshake out excess flour.

   Once cooled, add flour, baking soda & water mixture, and nuts to mixture.

   Pour batter into prepared pan.

   Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes.

   Test if the cake is done by inserting a clean toothpick into the middle of the cake.

   If the toothpick comes out clean, the cake is done.

   Cool for 8-10 minutes, then turn out of pan and cool completely on a wire rack.
