1 1/2 c. water
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
3 eggs
2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. allspice
4 c. flour
2 c. oatmeal
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. nuts (optional)

Bring to a boil raisins and water.

Cream together brown sugar, shortening and eggs.
