Joe Willis'S Transparent Pie

   In top part of double boiler, melt butter and sugar.

   Add salt; beat eggs and combine with butter and sugar mixture.

   Add corn syrup and vanilla.

   Cook and stir constantly until all sugar has dissolved completely and mixture is smooth.

   Pour mixture into pie or tart shells.

   Bake approximately 30 minutes at 350u00b0.

   After 15 minutes oven can be turned down to 300u00b0 and pies can cook longer.

   This is wonderful, like pecan pie without the pecans, a Southern recipe.
