In a saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of the oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and saute until the onion is softened, about 3 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients except the Swiss chard and the chicken, and cook for 20 to 25 minutes or until the tomatoes have softened. Remove from heat and transfer to a blender. Blend until smooth. Set aside.
