In a stand mixer, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add honey and egg and beat until combined. Sift flour, spices and baking soda together. Fold into batter, alternating with milk. Distribute between loaf pans and bake for 20-25 mins, until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 5 mins then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

To make the orange icing, sift powdered sugar into a heatproof bowl. Stir in orange juice, butter and orange zest. Mix until smooth. Place over a pan of gently simmering water and heat, stirring, until mixture is spreadable.
