Ingredients: 1 (4 oz.) pkg. Baker's German's sweet chocolate; 1/2 c. boiling water; 2 c. sugar; 4 egg yolks; 2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour; 1 c. butter; 1 tsp. vanilla; 1/2 tsp. vanilla; 1/2 tsp. salt; 4 egg whites, stiffly beaten; 1 c. buttermilk

Melt chocolate in boiling water. Cool.

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.

Add yolks one at a time; beat after each.

Blend in vanilla and chocolate.

Sift flour with soda and salt; add alternately with buttermilk to chocolate mixture.

Beat after each addition until smooth.

Fold in egg whites.

Pour in three 9-inch cake pans lined on bottom with paper.

Bake at 350u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes; cool.
