Mix egg and milk.

Sift together all other ingredients and gradually add to the milk mixture; beat until batter is smooth. Heat deep oil to 375u00b0.

Hold finger over the hole of a funnel, which has a hole dimension of 3/8 to 1/2-inch.

Fill funnel with batter.

Hold funnel as near surface of oil as possible, remove finger and drop batter into oil, using a circular movement from center outward to form a spiral cake, about 3-inches in diameter. It takes practice, remember to place finger on bottom of funnel as you form each cake.

Form as many in skillet as will float uncrowded.

Fry until cakes are puffy and golden brown, turning once.

Remove cakes with slotted spoon to a paper towel to drain. Sift lightly with powdered sugar with a little cinnamon added. Serve at once.
