4 egg yolks
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. hot water
4 egg whites, beaten
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. nutmeg
rum (if desired)

Sprinkle gelatin over cold water and set aside.
