1
Peel the sweet potato, and cut into cubes.
-
2
To remove the bitterness, prepare a bowl of water (not listed), and add the (1) salt.
-
3
Soak the sweet potato in the bowl of water.
-
4
Drain, rinse under running water, and drain again really well.
-
5
Coat the sweet potato with sugar in a bowl.
-
6
If the sugar is really grainy, add a little water.
-
7
Leave the sweet potato for about 5 minutes to let it absorb the sweetness.
-
8
Add the plain flour into the bowl, and mix.
-
9
Add water while adjusting the consistency of the batter.
-
10
Add the (2) salt to enhance the sweetness.
-
11
Adjust the amounts of flour and sugar depending on the size and sweetness of the sweet potato.
-
12
If you like it nice and chewy, it will be the best if you make the batter rather thick like okonomiyaki batter.
-
13
If you like it rich and dense, make the batter firm enough to form peaks.
-
14
Pour the batter into a silicone steamer, microwave for 7 minutes at 600 W. After microwaving, let it steam for 3 minutes and it's done.
-
15
Twist the silicone steamer to remove the cake onto a sheet of aluminum foil.
-
16
Cut into bite-sized pieces, and it's ready to serve.
-
17
If you cut it horizontally, you can hold it in the aluminum foil, and it's easy to eat.
