   Combine sugar, syrup and water.

   Cook to firm ball stage (240u00b0).

   Wipe away crystals from pouring side of pan and allow to cool, undisturbed, for about 5 minutes.

   Beat egg whites.

   Add syrup very slowly, beating constantly.

   Add remaining syrup more rapidly.

   Add vanilla.

   Beat until mixture holds it shape and becomes slightly dull.

   Stir in nuts.

    Drop from spoon onto waxed paper.

    Cook in a heavy pan.
