Lightly coat an 8x8x2-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray; dust lightly with flour.

Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl combine the 1 1/2 cups flour, the sugar, ginger, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add the water, molasses, butter, and egg whites.

Beat with an electric mixer on low to medium speed until combined.

Beat on high speed for 2 minutes.

Spread into prepared pan.

Bake in a 350 degree F oven about 20 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.

Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes.

Remove cake from pan.
