Deluxe Macaroni and Cheese

   Cook flour with butter on low heat for about 10 minutes.

   Add milk and peeled onion to flour and butter.

   Simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes until sauce has thickened.

   Discard onion.

   In the meantime, fully cook and drain pasta.

   Grate cheese and stir most of the cheese into the sauce and stir or whisk thoroughly until completely combined.

   Combine sauce and drained pasta.

   Pour into a baking dish.

   Sprinkle the top with breadcrumbs and the balance of the grated cheese.

    Bake for 30 minutes at 400 Fahrenheit.

    Finish under a broiler if necessary, watching it carefully.
