   Bring to a boil and boil, covered, 2 minutes.

   Uncover and cook to a soft ball stage.

   While cooking, beat 2 egg whites until stiff, but not dry.

   Pour the syrup over the beaten egg whites slowly.

   Beat with electric mixer until thick, almost stands in peaks.

   Quickly add 2 cups pecans and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla. Drop on wax paper.
