1 Tbsp. Flour
1 c. Hot Water
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 c. Brown Sugar
1 c. Flour
1 tsp. Baking Soda
2 c. rolled Oats
1/2 c. melted Margarine or salad oil
crushed Walnuts if desired

Combine Dates and 1 tablespoon of Flour.

Add Water; simmer 10 minutes or until thickened.

Stir in Vanilla.

Combine Brown Sugar with 1 cup of Flour, Baking Soda, and Oats.

Add melted Margarine gradually while stirring; cover with date mixture.

Then sprinkle with remaining oatmeal mixture.

Pat down in two cookie sheets. Bake at 350 for 10 - 15 minutes.

Cool and cut in squares.
