Date Delights

   Heat sugar and margarine until mixture boils, then remove from stove and add beaten egg.

   Return to stove and add chopped dates. Boil until mushy.

   Remove from stove and add crushed vanilla wafers, vanilla and enough coconut to make a firm mix.

   Press into dish and sprinkle with a small amount of coconut.

   Cool and cut into bars.
