2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/8 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. plus 1 Tbsp. shortening
3/4 c. sour milk
3/4 tsp. vanilla
1/2 to 3/4 c. unbeaten eggs
