Dice about 12 cherries.

In a large bowl, combine the cake mix (without the eggs and oil), the can of Dr. Pepper, the cherry juice, and the diced cherries. Mix well.

Pour the batter into a a lightly greased 9x13 pan. (Or you can make cupcakes, just be sure to use liners.)

Bake the cake at 350F until it is almost done, when a toothpick inserted comes out with a couple crumbs. (Use a bake time in accordance to instructions on the box.)

Let the cake cool completely.

When the cake is completely cooled, evenly spread the whipped cream over the top. It does not have to be neat.

Place 16 cherries on top of the cake in even rows, so that when the cake is cut, there will be a cherry in the middle of each piece.
