1 tsp. baking soda

1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. gumdrops, cut up

Cream sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla.

Spoon flour into dry measuring cup.

Pour measured flour onto a square of waxed paper.

Add salt and soda to flour; stir to blend.

Add blended dry ingredients to creamed mixture; mix well.

Stir in gumdrops and nuts; mix well.
