Ingredients: 1 c. sour cream; 3 Tbsp. sugar; 1/8 tsp. soda; 1 tsp. salt; 1 pkg. yeast; 1/4 c. warm water; 1 large egg; 2 Tbsp. soft shortening; 3 c. flour; 2 Tbsp. butter, softened; 1/3 c. brown sugar; 1 tsp. cinnamon; 1 1/2 c. powdered sugar; 2 Tbsp. butter, softened; 1 to 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla or almond extract; 1 to 2 Tbsp. warm water

1 c. sour cream
3 Tbsp. sugar
1/8 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 pkg. yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1 large egg
2 Tbsp. soft shortening
3 c. flour
2 Tbsp. butter, softened
1/3 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
2 Tbsp. butter, softened
1 to 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
1 to 2 Tbsp. warm water

Heat sour cream to lukewarm.

Stir in sugar, soda and salt. Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water.

Add egg, shortening and flour.

Knead gently.

Turn dough onto floured board.

Roll into an oblong, 24 x 6-inches.

Spread with 2 tablespoons butter and sprinkle half lengthwise with mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon. Fold other half over.

Cut into 3/4-inch strips and twist each strip.

Place on greased baking sheet pressing both ends of twists to baking sheet.

Cover and let rise until double, about 1 hour. Bake at 375u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.

Frost, when cool, with mixture of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons butter, extract and 1 to 2 tablespoons warm water.
