Day 1: Do nothing, just let the bag of starter sit at room temperature.

Day 2: Squeeze the bag to release air.

Day 6: Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup milk. Squeeze the bag to release air.

Day 10: Follow instructions below:

1. Pour the entire contents of the starter bag into a non-metal bowl.

2. Add 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 1/2 cups sugar, and 1 1/2 cups milk. Stir.

3. Measure out 1 cup of batter each into 4 Ziploc gallon-sized bags (marked with the date). Keep a bag for yourself and give three bags to friends with a copy of this recipe.

4. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees (F).

To the remaining starter, add 3 eggs, 1/2 cup oil, 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 cups flour, 1 box white chocolate instant pudding mix, 1/4 cup white chocolate chips, and 2 peeled and diced Honeycrisp apples.

6. For the topping, mix together the remainng 1 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon cinnamon, 1/4 cup flour, and 1/4 stick soft margarine with hands until crumbly.

7. Spray two medium loaf pans with cooking spray.

8. Pour the batter evenly into the pans.

9. Sprinkle the topping evenly amongst the two pans.

10. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes at 325 degrees (F), until a knife comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes.

**AMISH FRIENDSHIP BREAD STARTER RECIPE:

1 package active dry yeast

1/4 cup warm water (110 degrees F)

3 cups all-purpose flour, divided

3 cups sugar, divided

3 cups whole or 2% milk

1. Dissolve yeast package with water in a small bowl and allow to stand for 10 minutes.

2. In a large non-metal container, combine 1 cup flour and 1 cup sugar. Mix thoroughly and slowly stir in 1 cup milk and the dissolved yeast mix. Cover and let stand until bubbly.

3. Consider this Day 1, do nothing. Follow the Amish Friendship Bread starter rules above.
