With an electric mixer on low speed, mix until well blended, occasionally scraping the bowl with a spatula.

Then beat at medium speed for 4 minutes.

Bake in a preheated 350 oven for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick pushed into the centre comes out clean.

Or bake in three 9-inch layer pans for 20 minutes, or until thoothpick comes out clean.

Let stand for 10 minutes; remove from pans and cool on a wire rack.
