2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
2 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
4 oz. chocolate
2 tsp. additional fat
2 c. chopped nuts

Cream the shortening and sifted sugar together.

Add eggs and vanilla. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together.

Add alternately with the milk to cream mixture. Add melted chocolate and additional melted fat. Add chopped nuts last.

Drop from a teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet. Top with candied cherries and bake in moderate oven at 350u00b0 for 15 minutes.
