2 1/4 c. flour

1 c. buttermilk

Melt chocolate in water and add vanilla.

Beat well. Take out 3 cups and set aside for frosting.

To the other part, add the 1/4 cup butter.

Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Combine flour and soda and add to the egg-sugar mixture alternately with buttermilk.

Spoon batter evenly into three greased 9-inch pans and bake at 350u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
