Making the dough:
-
2
1. I use the dough cycle on my bread maker when making bread.
-
3
2. First you need to scald your milk. Put the milk into a small saucepan and turn on high. Once the milk starts to boil, remove from heat and let it cool.
-
4
3. Add milk, water and butter that has been cut into slices into the bread machine pan.
-
5
4. Beat egg in a bowl until frothy. Add to the bread machine pan.
-
6
5. Add flour, salt and sugar on top of the wet ingredients. Make a small divot in the flour and add the yeast last in the indentation.
-
7
6. Close the lid on your bread machine and set it on the dough cycle.
-
8
7. When dough cycle is complete, remove dough from the bread machine and put onto a lightly floured surface. Knead dough a few times and add a little flour so that it's not sticky.
-
9
8. Separate dough into three equal balls.
-
10
9. Roll one of your dough balls out with a lightly floured rolling pin.
-
11
10. Cut dough into 3-inch squares with a pizza cutter. Each ball should make nine squares.
-
12
Making the filling:
-
13
1. Mix cream cheese in your mixer until creamy.
-
14
2. Add egg yolks, sugar, flour and lemon juice and mix until creamy.
-
15
3. Add a spoonful of filling to each of the dough squares.
-
16
4. Pinch two of the opposite corners together.
-
17
5. Then pinch the other two corners together to form a pouch. Roll the top of the pouch under one turn.
-
18
6. Get out some toothpicks and break them in half. Stick a toothpick though the top of your pouch where all four corners come together. Repeat this with the other two dough balls.
-
19
7. Put your Danish pastries into a large greased metal pan.
-
20
8. Cover with a pastry towel and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
-
21
9. Spoon a tablespoon of cherry pie filling on the top of each Danish. Put in the oven and bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes. Let cool for 15 minutes.
-
22
Making the glaze:
-
23
1.Mix powdered sugar and milk together in a bowl. Add milk 1 teaspoon at a time until the glaze is creamy, but not runny.
-
24
2. Once Danish pastries are cool, drizzle the glaze over the top with a spoon. Add as much as you like. Put on a plate and enjoy!
