1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

1 c. chopped walnuts
2 Tbsp. bourbon whiskey

Cover raisins with water and simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes.

Drain, saving 3/4 cup cooking liquid.
