2 lb grnd chuck
2/3 c. minced yellow onion
1/2 c. minced celery
2 x cloves garlic, chopped
2 lb potatoes, peeled
4 Tbsp. butter
2 x carrots, sliced
2 ounce (about 2 1/2 Tbsp.) beef base
1 c. water
2 Tbsp. flour
1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese

Saute/fry` beef, onion, celery and garlic in a large pan till well done.

Strain off fat.

Boil potatoes till fork tender, about 20 min.

Drain and mash with butter.

Blanch carrots and add in to beef mix.

Make a gravy with beef base and water.

Whisk in sufficient flour to thicken, about 2 Tbsp..

When gravy comes to a boil, add in beef and carrot mix, reduce heat and simmer for 5 min.

Spoon meat mix into a 2-qt casserole.

Spoon potatoes on top.

Bake for 20 min at 350 degrees.
