1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. raisins
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp grnd cinnamon
1/2 tsp grnd nutmeg
3/4 c. vegetable shortening
3/4 c. granulated sugar
2 x Large eggs
1 1/2 c. oatmeal, uncooked (quick-cooking or possibly old-fashioned oatmeal)

Pour boiling water over raisins.

Let stand 10 min.

Drain raisins, reserving 1/4 c. liquid.

Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg into a bowl.

Add in shortening, sugar, Large eggs and reserved liquid.

Beat till smooth, about 2 min.

Stir in raisins and oatmeal.

Refrigeratedough at least 1 hour or possibly more.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Push by tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
